Last weekend's Grand prix numer 7 and last of the south european loop was at a new track at La Baneza which is located near the city of Leon in the north of Spain.
Weatherconditions were dry and hot and with a sandy surface covering a rock hard base, track conditions were treacherous.
At Nestaan-JMRacing it was Joel Roelants who best negotiated the new track and race conditionds by securing two solid 7th position race results.
In race one Joel leaped forward from 13th position at the start to finish 7th, while in the second race he occupied 7th place for more than 17 laps, coming up less than one second short on Osbourne at the finishline.
The first race proved tough on Jordi Tixier when during the intial stage he crashed and dropped back from 16th to 21th. Jordi had to dig deep but managed to fight back to finish 17th. The start of the second race was better and Jordi managed to keep 12th position for almost the entire race.
His first race efforts took their toll when the fatigued JMRookie could not prevent Lupino stealing 12th spot at the very last lap. His 17th. and 13th. position score added up to 15th overall for the event.
Pascal Rauchenecker's first race came to a sudden stop when in lap 12 the young Austrian crashed hard and was not able to continue the race. Although still shaken by his massive crash, Pascal decided to enter the second race where he mangaged to salvage 3 championship points, coming in at 18th spot.
Same strike of bad luck for MX1 rider Yentel Martens, who had crashed hard during a pre-GP test on thursday. Because his ticket to spain was already booked he decided to enter the GP but Yentel proved far from fit to race. In order to avoid taking more risk Yentel skipped the second race.
In the EU MX2 series Kenny Vandueren played a silent role coming in 18th and 12th, adding up to14th overall. In the EU championship Kenny finds himself in 23th position.

Teammanager Jacky Martens comment's; "First off I am very pleased with Joel's performance of this weekend. At the end of the first race, Joel's recent training injury (ruptured lower back muscle) suddenly played havoc, so in between races he was hooked up to the ice-pad machine. In race two Joel fought the pain and again secured 7th place while posting some of the fastest lap times of the day. Joel is riding smoother than before and now is very close to be able to make that final push.
Jordi and Pascal are experiencing a small relapse. This is not unexpected as after the demanding american tour the youngsters again have worked their way through 3 GP's in a row. The next GP (Sweden) will only be within two weeks, which will allow Jordi and Pascal to rest properly and regain their strenght".

NEDERLANDSTALIGE VERSIE
Grand Prix nummer 7 en de laatste van de Zuid-Europese tour heeft afgelopen weekende plaatsgevonden op een geheel nieuw circuit in La Baneza, in noord Spanje.
Een zandlaag op een betonharde ondergrond in combinatie met droogte en erg warm weer zorgden voor een verraderlijk circuit. Bij Nestaan-JMracing wist Joel Roelants het best met deze moeilijke omstandigheden om te gaan door twee keer als 7e te eindigen. In race 1 wist Joel vanuit 13e positie naar de 7e plaats door te stoten. In de herneming bezette Joel meer dan 17 ronden de 7e plaats, waarbij hij op de finishlijn helaas net minder dan één seconde te kort kwam om de 6e plaats van Osbourne af te pakken.
Voor Jordi Tixier werdt het een lastige eerste reeks nadat hij tijdens de beginfase ten val kwam en terugviel van de 16e naar de 21e plaats. Daarna moest Jordi diep gaan om vervolgens nog als 17e te finishen. Zijn start van de tweede reeks was beter waarbij Jordi bijna de gehele wedstrijd de 12 plaats bezette. Tijdens de laatste fase echter eisten de inspanningen die hij tijdens de eerste reeks had geleverd zijn tol en moest hij in de laatste ronde zijn 12e plaats afstaan aan Lupino.
Jordi's 17e en 13e finish scores bleken uiteindelijk goed voor 15e overall.
Pascal Rauchenecker's eerste reeks kwam plots ten einde toen hij in ronde 12 zwaar ten val kwam en even buiten bewustzijn was geraakt. Alhoewel nog aangedaan door deze zware klapper besloot Pascal in de tweede reeks toch te starten waarbij hij, als 18e finishend, nog 3 kampioenschapspunten wist te redden.
Vergelijkbare pech ondervond ook MX1 rijder Yentel Martens die tijdens een GP test op donderdag vooraf aan de GP ook hard ten val was gekomen. Omdat zijn vliegticket naar Spanje al was geboekt besloot Yentel om toch aan de GP deel te nemen maar het was tijdens de eerste reeks al snel duidelijk dat hij verre van fit was.
Na de eerste reeks niet uitgereden te hebben is om verder risico te vermijden besloten om de tweede reeks niet meer te starten.
In de Europese MX2 series kon Kenny Vandueren geen vuist maken. Kenny finishte 18e en 12e in de reeksen, goed voor de14e plaats overall. In het EU MX2 kampioenschap bezet Kenny nu de 23e plaats.

Commentaar van teammanager Jacky Martens; "Allereerst ben ik zeer tevreden met het optreden van Joel van afgelopen weekeinde.
Aan het eind van de eerste race begon zijn recente trainingsblessure ( scheurtje in bilspier) plots op te spelen, daarom is hij tussen de races in intensief met ijs-pads behandeld. Tijdens de tweede reeks heeft Joel de pijn verbeten en opnieuw een 7e plaats veiliggesteld. Het belangrijkste is dat hij hierbij een aantal keren de snelste rondetijd liet optekenen. Joel rijdt nu vloeiender dan voorheen en is er nu erg kort bij om net dat beetje extra te kunnen geven. Jordi en Pascal ondervinden een kleine terugslag. Dit is niet geheel onverwacht omdat onze juniors eerst een zware amerikaanse tour hebben afgewerkt om daarna meteen 3 GP's op rij te doen. De volgende GP (Zweden) is pas over 14 dagen. Dit moet Jordi en Pascal voldoende gelegenheid geven om uit te rusten en opnieuw op krachten te komen".
