ROELANTS AND VANDUEREN SHINE AT KEIHEUVEL BALEN

Yesterday, Joel Roelants and Yentel Martens competed in the Inters Open Class at round 5 of the Belgian MX Championship on the famous Keiheuvel track in Balen (B).
Racing at Keiheuvel on the 15th of August has become a tradition and the place to be as the rider entry list represents a Grand Prix line-up making it of the most spectacular events in the Belgian MX Championship series. Heavy rainfall in the days before the event made the challenging dune-sand at Keiheuvel even more demanding, conditions in which Joel Roelants thrived as he secured a fantastic 2nd overall podium in this heavily competed event. The KTM SX-350F dominated the event as this super competitive machine was the weapon of choice for Joel Roelants and overall winner Jeffrey Herlings. Yentel Martens rode to a decent 10th overall, also on the KTM SX-350F.
In the Inters MX2 class, Kenny Vandueren holeshotted and finsihed in second during both races, securing an excellent second overall at Keiheuvel.

During the weekend Joel Roelants was mentioned to replace Clement Desalle for MX open class in the Belgian 2011 MX of Nations team, as Desalle broke an arm during yesterday's first race.

Teammanager Jacky Martens was happy with the performance of his riders and pleased to see the massive crowd of MX fans (around 10.000) at Keiheuvel. Keiheuvel holds good memories for Jacky as he has won "the Keiheuvel" 7 times, including two special Keiheuvel Trophy's which are given only when a rider has won the event three times in a row.

NEDERLANDSTALIGE VERSIE
Gisteren startten Joel Roelants en Yentel Martens in de inters open klasse tijdens de 5e proef van het Belgisch Open MX kampioenschap op de Keiheuvel in Balen (B). Motocross op de Keiheuvel op 15 Augustus is een traditie en voor velen "the place to be" door het altijd sterke deelnemersveld en omdat het een van de mooiste omlopen is uit het Belgisch MX kampioenschap. Zware regenval in de dagen voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd zorgden ervoor dat het duinzand parcours er nog zwaarder bij lag dan normaal al het geval is. Dit zijn omstandigheden waarin Joel Roelants optimaal presteert, wat hij dan ook bevestigde door een fantastische 2e podiumplek te pakken in deze zwaar bevochten ronde van het BK motorcross.
De wedstrijd werdt gedomineerd door de KTM SX-350F, deze super competitieve motor was dan ook de keuze van Joel Roelants en overall winnaar Jeffrey Herlings. Yentel Martens wist een mooie 10e plaats algemeen te pakken, ook op de KTM SX-350F.
In de Inters MX2 klasse wist Kenny Vandueren in beide reeksen de kopstart te pakken en als 2e te finishen. Hierdoor pakte hij de 2e plaats overall op de Keiheuvel.

Tijdens het weekeinde is Joel Roelants genoemd om Clement Desalle te vervangen voor de open MX klasse in het Belgische 2011 MX of nations team. Desalle brak een arm tijdens de openingswedstrijd van afgelopen weekeinde.

De Keiheuvel blijft een goede herinnering voor Jacky omdat hij hier 7 keer wist te winnen en daarbij twee maal de Speciale Keiheuvel trofee wist te bemachtigen. Deze trofee wordt alleen uitgereikt als een rijder 3 keer achtereen de Keiheuvel weet te winnen.
