Race report MX2 Grand Prix Indaiatuba, Brazil

Last week the team travelled some 10.000Kms southeast from San Bernardino California to Indaituba Brazil, which was the next stop on the GP Calendar.
With Indaituba beeing a complete new venue in the GP series, the riders were pleasantly surprised by the perfectly prepped hard-track which had a lot of  "turn-jump" action and big table-tops. Downside was the high air humidity which made the 22deg.C temperature feel like 33dg, something which took it's toll on many riders.
Joel Roelant's weekend was hampered by two unfortunate crashes, of which the first one was during the start of the qualifying race when he and teammate JordiTixier contacted and both crashed. Coming from dead last, Joel and Jordi still managed to finish in 9th and 11th. Nestaan-JMRacing junior Pascal Rauchenecker completed the trio by scoring 10th position in qualifying.

Race 1; During the first 5 laps the top 20 positions were shuffled and from then on a sort of status quo appeared, as if most riders were afraid to collapse at the end of the race due to "overheating". As a result Joel found himself in 8th position almost the entire race and also finished in 8th, as the same for Jordi who finished in 10th. and Pascal who finished in 13th position.

Race 2; Joel Roelants made a good start in 7th position but an unfortunate first-lap crash made him drop out of the top 20. Joel quickly re-mounted his 250SX-F and put his head down managing to come back to 11th place at the finish line, while he showed some absolute brilliant riding.
Pascal Rauchenecker had dropped back from 11th to 14th towards the end of the race but managed to launch an impressive final lap attack, passing Aubin and de Freitas to finish 12th, securing12th overall for the event. Meanwhile in front Jordi Tixier transformed a decent 9th position race start in to a solid 10th position at the finishline, scoring 11th overall for the event.

Teammanager Jacky Martens comment's; " This weekend we have seen Jordi and Pascal scoring their best overall GP result so far. I am happy to see their performance grow as the season continues. To see a youngster like Pascal picking up extra speed on indications given by me during a race, is very rewarding. In Joel's case; he has what it takes to be a constant top 5 runner so the unfortunate crashes here in Brazil prove rather frustrating. Joel's determination to break in to the top 5 remains very strong, so with still11 GP events to go I am sure he will get there."

Nederlandstalige versie

Vorige week reisde het team zo'n 10.000 km zuid-oostwaarts vanuit San Bernardino-Californie naar Indaituba, Brazillië, de afspraak op de GP kalender van afgelopen weekeinde. Omdat Indaituba compleet nieuw is op de GP kalender waren de rijders aangenaam verrast door het perfect geprepareerde circuit met veel "turn-jump" acties en grote tafelsprongen. Een tegenvaller echter bleek de enorm hoge luchtvochtigheid waardoor de temperatuur van 22Gr.C wel 33 Gr.C leek, iets wat zijn tol zou eisen bij veel rijders. Joel Roelants zijn weekeinde werdt geplaagd door twee ongelukkige crashes, waarvan de eerste tijdens de kwalificatierace toen hij en Jordi Tixier samen ten val kwamen. Komend vanuit de achterhoede wisten Joel en Jordi uiteindelijk nog als 9e en 11e te finishen. Nestaan-JMRacing Junior Pascal Rauchenecker completeerde het trio door als 10e te eindigen.

Race 1; Gedurende de eerste 5 ronden werden alle top 20 posities bepaald waarna er een soort status quo onstond. Dit alsof de rijders beducht waren om overhit te raken door de hoge luchtvochtigheid. Hierdoor bevondt Joel zich gedurende bijna de hele race in 8e positie, de positie waarin hij ook finishte. Hetzelfde goldt voor Jordi die als 10e finishte als ook voor Pascal die als 13e finishte.

Race 2; Joel Roelants was bij de start goed weg maar crasthe meteen in de eerste ronde waardoor hij vanaf een 7e plaats plots buiten de top 20 was teruggevallen. Nadat Joel weer was opgestapt zette hij alles op alles en wist na een briljant gereden remonte terug te komen naar een 11e plaats.
Pascal Rauchenecker was gedurende de wedstijd teruggezakt van een 11e naar een 14 plaats. Pascal wist echter tijdens de laatse ronde nog een indrukwekkende aanval te plaatsen waarbij hij Aubin en De Freitas voorbij wist te gaan om zodoende als 12e te worden afgevlagd. Jordi Tixier wist een 9e positie tijdens van het begin van de wedstrijd te verzilveren in een 10e plaats op de finish, waarmee hij een mooie 11e plaats overall wist te scoren.

Commentaar van teammanager Jacky Martens; "Dit weekeinde hebben Jordi en Pascal hun beste GP resultaat tot nog toe behaald. Het doet goed om hun prestaties steeds te zien verbeteren naarmate het seizoen vordert. Daarnaast is het mooi om te zien hoe een jongeling als Pascal tijdens een wedstrijd mijn aanwijzigingen oppikt en zich hierdoor verbetert. Voor wat betreft Joel, hij heeft alles in zich om constant in de top 5 te rijden. Daarom is het frustrerend dat hij hier in Brazillië door twee ongelukkige crashes niet verder komt. Zijn vastberadenheid om in de top 5 te rijden blijft onverminderd hoog en met nog 11 GP's te gaan ben ik er daarom zeker van dat dit gaat gebeuren."
