Last weekend, the beautiful sand track of Kegums in Latvia was set stage for the 10th Grand Prix of the season.
Again a no-show for Joel Roelants in latvia after he had already missed out on the German GP. This due to a concussion he sustained after a crash during a mid week training session at Londinieres.
In MX2 GP the NESTAAN-JMRacing KTM colours were defended by Jordi Tixier and Pascal Rauchenecker. Jordi nailed a 13 pos. score in both races which placed him in 13th overall for the event. Jordi is also 13th in the overall world championship classification.
Pacal Rauchenecker's weekend was a bit tougher. The young Austrian scored 23th and 21th in the races, earning him 26th overall.
NESTAAN JMRacing's Kenny Vandueren got back to his old level in the European MX2 Championship series by scoring a beautiful 4th pos. result during the first race.
His chances on a good total result went up in smoke when during the second race the meniscus in his knee joint suddenly shifted. This caused an excruciating pain which forced Kenny to abandon the race. This unforseen DNF caused Kenny to drop back to 12th overall.

Comment of teammanager Jacky Martens;" Last tuesday Joel did a bike training test in which his eye-sight and reflex speed appeared not to be 100%. After consulting his physician it was decided to skip Latvia so Joel would have more time to recover.
Jordi did a very good job last weekend. We have been training a lot on his starts and now this is starting to pay off. When entering the first corner during the first race he was in a top 4 position. In Kegums we saw Jordi loose 6 positions during the first lap, so the next challenge is to defend position especially during the first 5 laps of the race.
Holding on to your spot is not easy while during the initial stage of the race the tempo is very high. In order to take the next step as a rider Jordi has to master this aspect.
With Pascal we see some symptoms of overtraining. During the first race his lights go out and he looses 8 positions just like that. Motivated by his good result in Brazil, Pascal has stepped up his training efforts probably too high. After beëing 3 weeks on te road without constant supervision Pascal now returns to Lommel.
Together with training coach Werner deWit I will keep an eye on Pascal to see if our young Austrian takes sufficient rest in between training. Pascal's self motivation is at such a high level that we need to slow him dowm occasionally.
Last but not least; Kenny Vandueren once again showed that he belongs to the best in the European MX series. However bad luck continues to haunt him, we never expected this old knee injury to cause a DNF here in Latvia.
Our focus now is on the upcoming Grand Prix of Lommel, I expect Joel Roelants, Yental Martens and Kenny Vandueren to take sportive revenge here".

NEDERLANDSTALIGE VERSIE
Afgelopen weekeinde was het mooie zandcircuit van Kegums in Letland het toneel van alweer de 10e Grand Prix van het seizoen.
Na eerder de GP van Duitsland aan zich voorbij te hebben moeten laten gaan was Joel Roelants ook in Kegums niet van de partij. De Grobbendonkenaar bleek nog niet voldoende hersteld van een hersenshudding die hij opliep tijdens een motortraining in Londinieres twee weken eerder.
In de GP MX2 werden de NESTAAN-JMRacing KTM kleuren verdedigd door Jordi Tixier en Pascal Rauchenecker. Jordi wist met een 13e plaats in beide reeksen een mooie 13e plaats overall te pakken. Jordi heeft iets met 13 want ook in de algemene WK stand neemt hij na Kegums de 13 plaats in.
Pascal Rauchenecker had een wat lastiger weekeinde, de jonge Oostenrijker scoorde een 23e en een 21e plaats in de reeksen, goed voor 26e overall.
In het Europees kampioenschap MX2 wist Kenny Vandueren in de eerste reeks een mooie 4e plaats te pakken. Zijn kans op een mooie eindklassering zag Kenny plots in rook op gaan toen tijdens de tweede reeks ( in 7e positie) de meniscus in zijn knie verschoof waardoor hij met hevige pijn de wedstrijd moest verlaten. Deze DNF zorgde er uiteindelijk voor dat de geplaagde Vandueren op een 12e plaats overall bleef steken.

Commentaar van teammanager Jacky Martens;" Vorige week dinsdag heeft Joel met de motor getest en dat was nog geen onverdeeld succes. Zijn mate van zicht en reflex-snelheid bleken nog niet terug 100% te zijn. In overleg met zijn arts is daarom besloten om een langere rustpauze te nemen en niet naar Kegums af te reizen.
Jordi Tixier heeft het erg goed gedaan het afgelopen weekeinde. We hebben veel op de starts getraind en dat werpt nu zijn vruchten af. In de eerste reeks zat hij in de top4 bij het inkomen van de eerste bocht. De volgende uitdaging is nu om tijdens de eerste 5 ronden positie te kunnen vasthouden. In Kegums zagen we Jordi na een bliksemstart in de eerste ronde meteen 6 plaatsen verliezen. Positiebehoud is geen gemakkelijke opgave omdat het tempo in de eerste fase van de wedstrijd verschroeiend hoog ligt. Om verder te groeien moet Jordi dit echter onder de knie krijgen.
Bij Pascal zien we wat verschijnselen van overtraining. Tijdens de eerste reeks is ineens het licht uit en verliest hij zomaar 8 plaatsen. Gemotiveerd door zijn goede resultaat in Brazillië heeft Pascal destijds zijn trainingsinspanningen wellicht te hoog opgevoerd. Na 3 weken min of meer zelfstandig on-tour te zijn geweest keert Pascal nu terug naar Lommel. Nu kan ik samen met trainingsbegeleider Werner deWit weer nauwkeuriger een oogje in het zeil houden en er op toezien dat onze jongeling voldoende rust neemt. Pascal is zo fanatiek dat we hem eerder moeten afremmen dan motiveren.
Kenny Vandueren tenslotte liet tijdens de eerste reeks opnieuw zien dat hij tot de europese top behoort. De pech blijft hem echter maar achtervolgen, dat die oude knieblessure zo hevig zou opspelen had niemand voorzien".
Onze focus is nu gericht op de GP van Lommel, ik ga er van uit dat Joel Roelants, Yentel Martens en Kenny Vandueren hier sportief revanche zullen nemen".
